About this event
This presentation will cover the valley’s early canal system, the formation of the Salt River Project, the organization’s early days operating a reclamation project, and carry through to the construction of the Salt and Verde dams and the associated water delivery system. The presentation will also highlight the importance of a reliable water supply for the valley’s development and the impacts of the valley’s transformation following World War II.

Presenter: Leah Harrison, Salt River Project
Leah Harrison is the manager of Research Archives and Heritage at Salt River Project. Leah earned her Bachelor’s in History Education from the University of Arizona. A native Phoenician, Leah taught history and drama for three years before pursuing her Master’s Degree in Public History and a certificate in Scholarly Publishing from Arizona State University. She has been with SRP for ten years, analyzing the history of water and power in the valley and managing a team that oversees SRP’s archival and artifact collections, along with the SRP Heritage Center.
